Canon ELPH Cameras:

The Canon ELPH (also known as IXUS in Europe and IXY in Japan) series includes several popular compact point and shoot cameras built between 1996 and 2002.

All ELPH cameras used the Advanced Photo System (APS) film format and were known for being very compact and stylish. The companion line of digital cameras, the Digital ELPH series, remains in production.

SLR cameras
Canon began to develop and subsequently to produce film SLR cameras with its presentation of the Kwanon prototype in 1933. Some people have attributed its early success to the swift recovery of the then war-torn Japan after World War II.

In 1987, Canon introduced the EOS Single-lens reflex camera system along with the EF lens-mount standard in 1987 to replace the 16-years-old FD lens-mount standard; EOS became the sole SLR camera-system used by Canon today. Canon also used EOS for its digital SLR cameras, and so the EOS umbrella cuts across film and digital imaging technology.

Canon PowerShot:

The PowerShot products are a line of consumer and prosumer grade digital cameras, launched by Canon in 1995. The PowerShot line has been successful for Canon, and is one of the best-selling digital camera lines worldwide.According to Slashdot, freeware from the CHDK project allows nearly complete programmatic control of PowerShot cameras, enabling users to add features, up to and including BASIC scripting.
